A new clean energy training programme has been launched by the Youth Centre in collaboration with Sohar Port and Freezone to equip young Omanis with critical skills for the global energy transition.

The month-long initiative targets more than 50 participants aged 25–34, including science and engineering graduates, professionals, job seekers, and entrepreneurs interested in the clean energy sector.

Designed to bridge theory and practice, the programme combines interactive workshops, scenario-based learning, and real-world case studies. Its curriculum, aligned with Oman Vision 2040, covers a wide range of topics such as renewable energy fundamentals, green hydrogen applications, energy storage and value chains, integration strategies, energy efficiency, carbon markets, Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCUS), fuel cells, and sustainable mobility.

Participants will gain the ability to evaluate energy systems from technical, environmental, and economic perspectives. The programme also aims to strengthen understanding of carbon management, encourage innovation in scalable clean energy solutions, and prepare attendees for careers in sustainability and industrial sectors.

Said Al Balushi, Administration and Government Relations Manager at Sohar Port and Freezone, said that the initiative represents a strategic investment in building national capabilities for the energy transition. He noted that practical exposure to renewable energy, hydrogen, and carbon management will help strengthen the talent pool and support economic diversification and sustainable industrial growth in line with national priorities.
