The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) will host the Global Wind Day 2026 Conference on June 15 at ITC Grand Goa, bringing together policymakers, regulators, industry leaders, developers, financiers and other stakeholders to discuss ways to accelerate the growth of India’s wind energy sector.

The conference, themed, 'Wind Energy: From Ambition to Acceleration,' will be attended by Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi, along with senior officials from MNRE, the Central Electricity Authority (CEA), Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI), Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA), Grid India, state governments and industry associations.

The event comes as India’s wind energy sector records strong growth. The country added a record 6.1 GW of new wind power capacity during 2025-26, marking its highest-ever annual addition. India currently has the world’s fourth-largest installed wind power capacity and is targeting 100 GW of wind capacity by 2030 and 155 GW by 2035 as part of its broader clean energy goals.

According to MNRE, discussions at the conference will focus on resource adequacy, transmission and grid readiness, capacity addition challenges, domestic manufacturing competitiveness, export opportunities, forecasting technologies and renewable energy firming solutions.

Several industry reports and knowledge papers are also scheduled to be launched during the event. Among them is a report titled, 'Elevating India’s Wind Turbine Exports for Global Markets,' which examines opportunities for India to strengthen its position as a global manufacturing and export hub for wind turbines.

Industry representatives said that the conference would provide a platform for government and private sector stakeholders to align on strategies for addressing implementation challenges, strengthening supply chains and improving export competitiveness. The event will feature plenary sessions and panel discussions focused on accelerating project deployment, improving execution and supporting India’s long-term renewable energy ambitions.

The conference is expected to play a key role in shaping the next phase of growth for India’s wind energy sector as the country works toward its clean energy and net-zero commitments.
