India’s pipeline of low-carbon industrial projects has expanded by 30 percent over the past six months, reaching an estimated investment opportunity of USD 433 billion and making the country the world’s third-largest clean industry market by project count, according to data released by Mission Possible Partnership (MPP).

MPP’s latest Global Project Tracker identified 65 projects across 11 Indian states spanning green ammonia, green methanol, sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and low-carbon aluminium production, highlighting India’s growing role in the global shift toward cleaner industrial manufacturing.

The report found that India trails only China and the United States in the number of announced clean industrial projects and is increasingly positioning itself as a destination for energy-intensive industries seeking access to low-cost renewable power and diversified supply chains.
The pipeline represents a potential investment of USD 433.07 billion, including an estimated USD 323.5 billion in renewable energy infrastructure and USD 109.6 billion in industrial assets.

Green ammonia dominates the project pipeline, accounting for 49 of the 65 projects tracked, reflecting strong momentum in India’s green hydrogen and clean fuels sector. Activity in sustainable aviation fuel projects is also increasing as companies seek to tap emerging domestic and export markets for low-carbon aviation fuels.

Projects covered by the tracker include developments by companies such as AM Green, ACME, Indian Oil Corporation, NTPC, ReNew, Sembcorp, Welspun and Vedanta.

"India’s green hydrogen story is moving decisively from ambition to delivery, and ACME is proud to be at the forefront. As the winning bidder in several of SECI’s green ammonia auctions, we have helped establish a market underpinned by assured offtake, transparent price discovery and globally competitive tariffs,” said Arnava Sinha, Executive Vice President of Green Hydrogen and Ammonia at ACME.

Globally, clean industrial investment is accelerating as governments seek to reduce exposure to fossil-fuel price volatility, strengthen industrial resilience and secure future manufacturing supply chains. MPP said 19 projects worldwide reached final investment decisions during the past six months, more than double the pace recorded a year earlier.

The report highlighted the emergence of an "industrial sunbelt" comprising renewable energy-rich economies such as India, which could gain a long-term competitive advantage as clean manufacturing scales globally.

“Clean industry is moving from promise to pace, with the number of projects reaching final investment decision more than doubling over the past year,” said Faustine Delasalle, CEO of Mission Possible Partnership and Executive Director of the Industrial Transition Accelerator.

Yash Kashyap, India Lead at the Industrial Transition Accelerator, said India has built one of the world's largest early-stage clean industry pipelines but now faces the challenge of accelerating execution through stronger policy support, financing mechanisms and market demand.

"If India can convert its renewable energy advantage into industrial scale, it has the potential to become an important global hub for clean manufacturing, fuels and exports over the coming decade," Kashyap said.

The findings highlight India's growing efforts to align industrial expansion with decarbonisation goals as it seeks to attract investment, strengthen exports and build a low-carbon manufacturing base for the future.
