Armatec-FTS Agitators Offer Unmatched Durability and Power Efficiency for Biogas Plants
March 10, 2025. By Abha Rustagi

Que: What unique innovations has Armatec-FTS introduced in the field of agitators and pumps for biogas?
Ans: We have introduced our Evo series agitators, which are the best in terms of power consumption and performance. The series includes Evo, Evo Plus, Evo Fusion, Ultra, and Hybrid models.
We offer a wide range of agitators, including slow-moving agitators with low power consumption that provide excellent circulation. The connected load of this agitator is only 7.5 kilowatts. Another Evo agitator features an 880 mm steel propeller with 200 rpm.
These agitators effectively break floating and sinking layers in biogas digesters. Additionally, we have recently ventured into pedal agitators, which range from 5.5 m to 17 m in length. We are supplying these agitators specifically for the Indian market. In the coming months, we also plan to introduce Armatec-FTS pumps and assemble them in India to meet local requirements.
Que: How does your pump and agitator technology enhance the efficiency and productivity of biogas plants?
Ans: Agitators and pumps are the heartbeat of a biogas plant. Without them, the plant cannot function.
Our agitators are extremely robust and durable. They require no servicing for the first three years or 10,000 hours of operation—only a gear oil change is needed after this period.
We started three years ago with just eight agitators, but today we have sold over 300. The trust we have built with our customers is evident, as most of them return to purchase from us again.
Que: What are your plans for future development and expansion in India?
Ans: We recently inaugurated our new assembly unit in Hyderabad on January 2, 2025. This facility is now being used to assemble our agitators and will also serve as a service centre.
Que: Does Armatec-FTS FPS have any strategies for making biogas technology more affordable and accessible?
Ans: Yes, that is precisely why we have started assembling our products in India—to reduce costs. High-quality products must be used in biogas plants to ensure better project outcomes. By localising production, we aim to make these technologies more accessible to the industry. Many European companies are likely to follow suit in the near future.
Que: With increasing interest in hybrid renewable energy systems, do you see any synergy between biogas and other renewables?
Ans: Yes, definitely. Unlike solar plants, which generate energy only when the sun is shining, biogas plants produce gas continuously, 365 days a year.
The potential of biogas is immense, particularly with the increasing adoption of CNG vehicles and the rise of flex-fuel and ethanol projects. The biogas sector is poised for growth, similar to how the solar industry has expanded.
Que: How do events like IEW contribute to the energy sector?
Ans: This is our first time exhibiting at IEW, and the response has been phenomenal. We displayed our Evo model, the Evo Plus propeller, and the Evo Fusion pedal agitators. Many of our clients and industry connections have reached out, eager to meet us and have productive discussions. This exhibition is undoubtedly one of the best for the energy sector.
