Ans: Enphase Energy is proud to support the PM Surya Ghar Yojana, a significant initiative aimed at promoting solar energy adoption across India. Our contributions to this program are multifaceted:

• High-Quality Products: Our microinverters undergo over a million hours of power-on testing, ensuring optimal performance in various weather conditions across India. They allow higher energy generation even in low light, maximising savings for homeowners.

• Training and Support: We offer comprehensive training programs for new installers. This ensures that installers are well-equipped to deliver high-quality installations, which is crucial for the success of the PM Surya Ghar Yojana.

• Innovative Financing Solutions: By partnering with financial institutions, we offer innovative financing options that reduce the upfront cost barrier for homeowners. This makes it easier for more households to invest in solar technology.

• Advanced Energy Storage: We recently launched our IQ Battery 5P, enabling complete energy independence. Homeowners can now make, use, save, and sell their own power, tracking it all through our Enphase app.

• Scalability: Homeowners can start with a small system, as little as 1kW, and easily expand their solar capacity later. They can also add more batteries as needed. The ease of installation and scalability of our technology further supports the growth of solar energy and storage in India.

• Customer Education: We engage in community outreach and educational programs to raise awareness about the benefits of solar energy. By educating consumers, we help them make informed decisions about their energy choices.

By making solar technology more accessible, scalable, and reliable, we foresee a significant increase in India’s solar adoption rate. This initiative not only reduces electricity costs for homeowners but also promotes energy self-reliance, driving widespread adoption and helping India achieve its renewable energy targets. Although our business in India is a small part of Enphase’s global contribution, it doubled last year, and we expect to continue investing in India going forward. Que: How does Enphase’s microinverter technology compare with traditional inverters in terms of efficiency and reliability?

Ans: Enphase’s microinverter technology offers several advantages over traditional string inverters in terms of both efficiency and reliability.

Our microinverters are designed to operate independently with each solar panel, which means that the performance of one panel does not affect the others. This decentralised approach ensures higher overall system efficiency, especially in conditions where shading or dirt might impact some panels but not others. Traditional string inverters, on the other hand, are limited by the performance of the least efficient panel in the string.

Additionally, our microinverters are more efficient in low-light conditions, maximising energy generation throughout the day. They also come with an industry leading 25-year extendable warranty, providing long-term peace of mind for homeowners, thereby providing a reliable solar solution.

Overall, Enphase microinverters not only enhance the efficiency and reliability of solar systems but also offer greater flexibility and scalability, making them a superior choice for solar energy solutions.


Que: What measures does Enphase take to ensure the safety and reliability of its microinverter systems?

Ans: At Enphase, we prioritise the safety and reliability of our microinverter based solar systems through several key measures. Our microinverters use an AC design, which converts DC power from solar panels to AC power right at the panel level. This design eliminates high-voltage DC, making the system inherently safer for homeowners.

In terms of reliability, Enphase microinverters undergo over a million hours of power-on testing, ensuring they can withstand various extreme weather conditions across India. Globally, we have a mean time between failures (MTBF) of over 600 years, and our failure rates are just 0.05%. This high reliability is due to our rigorous testing and robust design, which includes advanced thermal management and protective features.

Additionally, our storage solutions, such as the IQ Battery 5P, use Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) chemistry, known for its superior performance and longevity. While most of the units are currently being shipped to other countries, by leveraging economies of scale for sale in India, we aim to reduce costs associated with import duties and logistics.

• Innovative Financing Options: We are partnering with financial institutions to offer innovative financing solutions, such as low-interest loans and easy instalment plans. This helps reduce the upfront cost barrier for homeowners looking to invest in solar technology.

• Government Policies: We actively collaborate with government bodies to share insights from our customer interactions, including their challenges, requirements, and expectations. This helps shape policies that support the growth of solar energy.
