Quality and Durability: How Growatt Adapts Solar Inverters for India’s Diverse Climate

November 14, 2024. By News Bureau

As the need for more efficient and sustainable energy systems is growing, Growatt is focused on providing inverters that evolve with residential, commercial & industrial and utility demands, said Sunesh Menon, Technical Manager India, Growatt, in an interview with Energetica India.

Que: What innovative technologies or new products is Growatt planning to showcase at the REI 2024?

Ans: We are excited about the upcoming edition of REI, taking place at the India Expo Center in Greater Noida from October 3rd to 5th, 2024. This year, we will be showcasing a wide array of products and solutions designed to help homeowners and businesses meet their sustainability targets. Our comprehensive range of PV inverters and storage solutions will be on display, including the following key offerings.

Starting with our residential products, we will feature the NEO 2000M-X microinverter, which allows users to optimise power at the module level. For the first time in India, we will also showcase our X2 Pro and X2 Pro E models from the MIC, MIN, and MOD ranges. These inverters, with a high current capacity of 18A/20A, are compatible with almost all panels currently available in the industry.

For commercial and industrial (C&I) installers and customers, we will present our MID 30-50KTL3-X2 and MAX 150KTL3-X LV inverters. As the first to introduce a 150kW inverter in the low-voltage segment, these units feature multiple MPPTs, a higher DC/AC ratio, and compatibility with higher wattage panels, all contributing to reduced LCOE. Additionally, they come equipped with all essential protection features, including type II SPD on both AC and DC sides. Smart features such as remote monitoring and control, IV curve scanning, one-click diagnosis, and remote firmware upgrades are also integrated.

We will also unveil our new MAX 350KTL3-X utility-scale inverter. Given the recent developments and growth in utility-scale project tenders, this 350kW inverter is expected to attract significant interest. With a maximum efficiency of 99.03 percent, it ensures optimal DC-to-AC power conversion, maximising energy output.

In addition to these, we will also exhibit EV chargers, battery storage systems, and portable power stations during the event.

Que: How does Growatt plan to address emerging trends in India’s Solar Inverter industry and their expectations from the Renewable Energy India Expo 2024?

Ans: Growatt is playing a vital role in India’s solar inverter industry, helping drive the energy transition with innovative, cutting-edge products and solutions. As the need for more efficient and sustainable energy systems grows, we’re focused on providing inverters that evolve with residential, commercial & industrial and utility demands. We're also investing heavily in R&D to ensure our inverters keep pace with the latest panel technologies, so the entire system works together seamlessly. At REI 2024, we’re excited to showcase our latest innovations, build stronger partnerships, and continue playing a key role in shaping India’s green energy future.

Que: What level of customisation does Growatt make in materials and designs in its Solar Inverter to ensure long-term durability, especially suited for India’s sporadic environment?

Ans: Quality is our top priority, and we're committed to delivering products that meet the highest global standards. Our inverters, with IP65/IP66 ratings, are built with durable materials to endure extreme temperatures, high humidity, and dust. We've also integrated advanced cooling systems, protective coatings, and a wide operating temperature range to ensure consistent performance, even in challenging environments. These features make our inverters ideal for India's diverse climate. Moreover, we've carried out all essential testing and certifications, ensuring they’re perfectly suited to India's unique conditions.

Que: Can you explain the different charging speeds supported by Growatt chargers and how they adapt to various EV models?

Ans: We now offer AC EV chargers from 7kW to 22kW and DC fast chargers from 20kW to 200kW, including the THOR 60-200DD-P, which can charge an EV in just 15-50 minutes. Our chargers are compatible with almost all electric vehicles, and we can provide different connector options based on customer needs. Additionally, our EV chargers can be configured to power your vehicle using 100 percent solar energy. With our app-based platform, users can monitor charge levels, set charging modes, and schedule charging times.

Que: Growatt offers inverters like the MID 33-50KTL3-X2 and WIT 50-100K-HU/AU for small C&I solar projects and energy storage. How do these products cater to the diverse needs of Indian businesses?

Ans: C&I businesses in India are rapidly shifting to renewable energy sources, and this sector is showing strong growth. At Growatt, we’re meeting this demand with our comprehensive range of on-grid and hybrid energy storage inverters. Our inverters are equipped with multiple MPPTs, a higher DC/AC ratio, and are compatible with high-watt panels, which helps in lowering the Levelised Cost of Energy (LCOE). They also include essential protection features and advanced monitoring and control capabilities.

This year, we've started shipping the MID 33-50KTL3-X2 in India, receiving excellent feedback from small C&I customers. As ‘Solar+Storage’ gains momentum, our WIT 50-100K-HU/AU inverters stand out as an ideal choice for hybrid solutions. These inverters offer a 2.0 DC/AC ratio, high conversion efficiency, 10 MPPTs, built-in PID recovery, 100 percent unbalanced load support during backup, and IP66 protection. They can be paralleled to scale up to 300kW. When combined with APX commercial LFP batteries, they provide a redundant design with multi-level safety features. Growatt’s innovative WIT+APX system allows businesses to achieve greater energy independence and efficiency.

Que: Integration of renewable energy sources, such as solar power with EV charging systems has become essential for enhancing sustainability and energy efficiency. What measures you have taken in this regard?

Ans: At Growatt, our vision extends beyond just providing energy products—we're building a complete ecosystem to help homeowners and businesses transition to clean, green energy. As part of this, we’ve introduced EV chargers that offer efficient and sustainable commuting solutions. By combining renewable solar energy with electric vehicles, users can significantly reduce their carbon footprint while cutting down on energy costs. Our EV chargers can be configured to power electric vehicles using 100 percent solar energy, seamlessly integrating clean energy into the charging process. This not only helps in reducing reliance on traditional power sources but also plays a key role in lowering carbon emissions, contributing to a more sustainable future.
