Khalsa EV Fast-Charging Vehicles to Revolutionize Metro City Transportation

January 03, 2025. By Aishwarya

Our upcoming fast-charging technology will allow vehicles to charge from 0 to 80% in approximately 20 minutes and fully charge in 40-45 minutes, reveals Shivam Narang, Managing Director, Khalsa EV and Satyam Narang, CEO, Khalsa EV in conversation with Aishwarya Saxena, Energetica India on the premises of EV Expo 2024.

Que: What are you showcasing at the EV Expo 2024, and how do your products differentiate themselves from competitors?

Ans: We are showcasing our L5 model, a three-plus-one electric auto. This vehicle is designed for Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 cities and has become one of the most demanded products in the industry. We officially launched it here at the Expo.

Que: Range anxiety has been a major concern for the electric vehicle industry. What factors influence the range of an e-rickshaw on a single charge?

Ans: Range anxiety is no longer an issue for our vehicles. The battery we have implemented in the L5 model is an 11.77 kWh battery pack, allowing the vehicle to run 190 to 200 kilometers on a single charge.

This range has been tested under Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) conditions on real-world roads. We conduct rugged and thorough testing to ensure the vehicle’s reliability in everyday conditions. Additionally, the charging time is just four to four and a half hours, making it highly efficient for users.

Que: Can you discuss the challenges associated with fast-charging technologies for electric autos or vehicles?

Ans: One of the primary challenges is infrastructure development. While organizations like IOCL, BPCL, and other major companies are working to improve infrastructure, we are also implementing fast-charging systems at our dealers and distributors.

Our upcoming fast-charging technology will allow vehicles to charge from 0 to 80% in approximately 20 minutes and fully charge in 40-45 minutes. This system will be highly beneficial, especially in Tier 1 and metro cities. Once the infrastructure is fully ready, fast charging will become a seamless and efficient process.

Que: How is Khalsa EV incorporating next-generation technology into its product solutions?

Ans: We have incorporated several advanced features into our vehicles to make them smarter and more user-friendly. This includes,

Geo-fencing: Helps users track the vehicle and restrict its usage to specific areas.

Battery Diagnostics: Our vehicles can diagnose the battery’s health and even perform self-repair for minor issues using AI technology.

State of Charge (SOC) Monitoring: Real-time monitoring of battery capacity, remaining kilometers, voltage, current, and temperature is available.

Security System: Features like anti-theft protection and GPS tracking allow users to locate their vehicle in case of theft.

We are also working on implementing artificial intelligence in our R&D to further enhance the vehicle's ability to self-diagnose and resolve small issues. These features ensure convenience, safety, and efficiency for our customers.

Que: What are your strategic plans for overcoming infrastructure challenges and scaling production?

Ans: To address infrastructure challenges, we are focusing on expanding our dealer and distributor networks to implement fast-charging facilities. Currently, our standard charging system can fully charge a vehicle in four hours using a 230 Ah, 11.77 kWh battery pack.

For scaling production, we aim to introduce additional features like smart monitoring, recycling options, and AI-driven diagnostics. With the ongoing development of infrastructure by major organizations and the adoption of next-generation technology, we are confident that the e-mobility sector will see significant growth in the coming years.
