Que: Could you please share more details on Jinko Solar’s Tiger module? From when will this module be available for the Indian solar developers?
Ans: JinkoSolar launched its new flagship module, Tiger, at All-Energy Australia 2019. Tiger offers customers a highly competitive performance-to-cost advantage as well as a fast time-to-market with direct migration from the Cheetah version.
Tiger module provides better density and power value than previous models, due to a combination of upgraded Mono PERC half-cut cell 9BB and Tiling Ribbon technology. Its maximum wattage is currently available at 475Wp with an efficiency of 21.16% efficiency. Tiger module comes will two variants – monofacial & bifacial
By leveraging the new capabilities gained from Cheetah’s success, JinkoSolar’s Tiger delivers 10% higher power over the Cheetah version and 5% over Cheetah Plus. At the same time, its design is fully compatible with its existing module encapsulation processes and equipment, allowing its comprehensive supply ecosystem to be reused. As a result, it offers a seamless migration path with a fast go-to-market cycle time with very limited engineering resources for customers to achieve the product benefits from the new technology offering. Therefore, JinkoSolar claims to reach 9-10 GW of Tiger modules of 475Wp by adopting TR technologies. JinkoSolar is confident to push power to the 500 Wp or above by 2021 according to the Company’s roadmap.
Given these benefits, we already bagged orders in the tune of more than 1.5 GW globally. In India as well, Tiger is receiving irresistible attention. We are in advance discussion to close projects in a cumulative capacity of 1.5GW~2GW recently in India.
Que: Have there been any disruptions in the solar supply chain in China due to the coronavirus? How is Jinko Solar managing the current situation?
Ans: The outbreak had up to a certain extent impacted the material supply, labor, and logistic operations. But the situation has improved a lot now, especially for JinkoSolar. We are fully operational, manufacturing & delivering for clients across the globe. When it comes to an overall situation in China, top solar module suppliers are less affected. But tier two suppliers will face challenges in the coming time.
Since nowadays, clients are more inclined towards high-efficiency solar module technology, it is estimated that Tier 1 suppliers will have fully booked capacity for high efficiency and quality modules. While Tier 2 suppliers will find this opportunity to invest in manufacturing up-gradation.
JinkoSolar has been successfully able to manage this situation with its inherent practices like to keep tight & favorable control over cash flow, to manage supply chain well to fulfill signed orders & to strive for more valuable orders.
JinkoSolar is also upgrading its solar module offerings with the help of its R&D driven innovation strategy. It will easily sail us through these tough times.
Que: With bifacial solar modules costing more than mono facial modules, how do Jinko Solar's bifacial modules fare in achieving low LCOE?
Ans: High Energy Density is what benefits everyone on any ground-mounted Solar PV Installations, which can be achieved by using High-Efficiency Solar PV technologies like Bifacial PV Modules.
Bifacial Technology Module has got the advantage of absorbing both global horizontal irradiation on the front side of the module and diffused/reflected irradiation on the rear side of the module. Depending on the type of installation, Texture of ground surface & location, albedo factor varies the range of gain in specific energy yield when compared to Mono Facial modules.
Jinko Solar has done an analysis with all possible ground textures within our Haining factory in China and noticed the gain of energy with Bifacial modules varies up to 19% and the same was ratified by 3rd party agencies.
Out of available different models (dual glass / transparent back sheet) in Bifacial Modules, for tropical climatic zones like India, it is preferred to use a transparent back sheet that always gets the benefit of resembling existing conventional Solar PV modules.
Swan Bifacial Transparent back sheet modules have a product warranty of 30 years due to high reliable characteristics of the materials being used with POE as an encapsulant and PVF – Tedlar based back sheet with fluoric materials adding more value when compared to conventional encapsulant and back sheets. This even helps in obtaining lower LCOE with the reduced economics of CAPEX & OPEX calculations.
Reduced linear degradation on Bifacial modules is one other advantage over Mono facial modules to have high specific energy yield on any specific year during the life of the plant. Acceptability on these Bifacial technologies is getting wide-spread across the globe. It is expected to capture the majority market share technology by 2025.
Swan or Tiger Bifacial Modules ranging at power class 385-405 Wp or 450-470 Wp exhibit higher energy densities on the surface which has low soil moisture, which in turn increases the reflectivity sensitivities of the soil to produce more energy from the rear side of the Bifacial module.
Que: Which of Jinko Solar's products is the most favorite amongst its Indian customers?
Ans: Our Cheetah Mono PERC series has received tremendous acceptance across the globe. Cheetah has two variants Full Cell & half-cell. Full cell wattage ranges from 390 Wp to 410 Wp & Half Cell wattage – 395 Wp to 415 Wp. Our esteemed clients across all segments in India (Utility, Commercial & industrial, and rooftop) have entrusted in Cheetah modules, due to its high efficiency and ability to save BOS Cost and deliver more generation in limited space.
Going forward, we are confident that our newly introduced Tiger series is poised to become the preferred product for upcoming projects in India.
