From Refineries to Manufacturing: Atlas Copco’s Rental Solutions Power Critical Industries
March 15, 2025. By Abha Rustagi

Que: What is Atlas Copco Specialty Rental showcasing at IEW 2025, and what differentiates your solutions from others in the market?
Ans: Atlas Copco specialises in rental solutions, catering to market demands that are temporary in nature. We assist numerous refineries during their construction phases, where timely execution is crucial. IEW 2025 provided us with the opportunity to showcase our expertise and competency in this field.
We have had a strong presence in India for decades, actively contributing to the energy sector. This platform allows us to highlight our rental capabilities.
We are continuously investing in sustainable, cutting-edge technologies, with a focus on fuel-efficient fleets.
Additionally, we are introducing steam solutions—services that are not widely available in the market and are often overlooked. These solutions can be game-changers during contingencies or breakdowns, ensuring uninterrupted operations. Our aim is to increase industry awareness of the benefits of rental services.
Que: How does Atlas Copco ensure the reliability and efficiency of its rental equipment fleet across various industries?
Ans: When it comes to rentals, reliability is critical. The equipment we provide must be operational at all times because our customers rely on us when their utilities are down or insufficient.
A compressor, for example, may simply inflate tyres in a small workshop, but in a refinery, it ensures that operations continue. In a milk production plant, it becomes the lifeline of the industry. This is why we focus on reliability, setting us apart from others in the market.
We call ourselves ‘Specialty Rental’ because we provide a specialised fleet, cater to unique applications, and have highly trained professionals. Our fleet is equipped with a remote monitoring system, with a dedicated team in Pune overseeing the global fleet 24/7.
To maintain efficiency, we have a rigorous check-in and check-out process, use OEM spare parts, and follow a robust fleet management system. We leave no stone unturned when it comes to ensuring uptime and reliability.
Que: What role does Atlas Copco’s rental equipment play in supporting manufacturing processes that require temporary utility solutions?
Ans: Rental services have existed for years—just as people rent houses or stay in hotels, businesses also rely on rental equipment for temporary needs.
When there is a demand—whether due to equipment failure, project delays, seasonal peaks, or geopolitical or climate-related disruptions—our rental solutions provide an optimal, efficient bridge.
We support various industries, from turnaround projects to emergency breakdowns. So far, we have assisted in over 70 turnarounds in refineries and have played a key role in building India’s largest refinery. We also pioneered the use of nitrogen in cavern projects, expediting their completion.
Rental solutions are agile and adaptable, making them an essential part of industrial operations.
Que: Are there any upcoming solutions or expansion plans we should expect from Atlas Copco?
Ans: Absolutely. India is growing, and so is our business. We are making significant investments in both our traditional core fleet and new solutions to meet evolving customer needs.
Our rental services for compressed air have been well received in the industry, leading customers to request similar solutions for industrial gases. In response, we are investing in on-site nitrogen generators.
Last year, at the Steam Expo, we announced the introduction of temporary steam rental solutions—a unique offering in the industry.
Additionally, we aim to expand our geographical presence. Currently, we operate depots in Pune, Bangalore, and the eastern region. Moving forward, we plan to establish more depots in Gujarat and North India to ensure proximity to our customers.
Que: How do events like IEW contribute to the growth and collaboration within India’s energy sector?
Ans: IEW is a vibrant platform that benefits not just us but the entire industry. It allows us to engage with stakeholders across the supply chain, from customers to suppliers and industry leaders.
These interactions help us understand market trends, industry needs, and future opportunities. It’s a space to exchange ideas, explore new technologies, and assess whether we are on the right trajectory.
IEW is an essential event, and I always look forward to being a part of it.
