India and Mongolia Region VP, EPC Projects VP at Maire Tecnimont

Our Company is working on both EPC business as well as in green energy initiatives

Maire Tecnimont is an industrial group in the natural resources transformation sector: technology, engineering, and construction in the oil and gas downstream and in the energy transition. The Group can contribute to the industrialisation of circular economy with waste-to-chemicals technologies, and to the increased energy demand coming from the renewable sector, shared Mr. Milind V. Baride, India & Mongolia RVP, Maire Tecnimont in an interview with Energetica India. Mr. Baride added that through the Indian subsidiary Tecnimont Pvt. Ltd., the company is executing three EPC projects for Indian Oil Corporation.

Que: Can you tell us what opportunities is G20 presidency ship to Maire Tecnimont?

Ans: India Energy Week is the first programme under G20 summit under the Indian Government and we are very happy to be a part of it. Our Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his opening remarks, mentioned that India needs both types of energy security coming from the usual oil and gas as well as from the energy transition sector. 

Maire Tecnimont has projects in both sectors being able to support the energy security of the country as its suit of expertise in the relative spirit of innovation and decarbonisation technologies. The Group can contribute to the industrialisation of a circular economy thanks to waste-to-chemicals technologies, and to the increased energy demand coming from the renewable sector, whether it is from solar, wind and green hydrogen.


Que: How important is the Indian market for Maire Tecnimont?

Ans: India is the third largest consumer and importer of energy in the world. It also ranks among the top four in the production of renewable energy. Both these metrics provide us with a necessity to meet the demands in India as well as contribute to the growth story of India. In that sense, it is a very important market for Maire Tecnimont Group going forward.


Que: Can you throw some light on some major projects that Maire Tecnimont is working on in India right now?

Ans: Maire Tecnimont is working on both EPC business as well as in green energy initiatives. Through our Indian subsidiary Tecnimont Pvt. Ltd., we are executing three EPC projects for Indian Oil Corporation, and we have already completed two projects for HMEL in Bhatinda, Punjab. As far as Green Hydrogen is concerned, we are carrying out an innovative project for Gas Authority of India Ltd. for the production of green hydrogen. We also have a very large engineering service hub which is the other area of our business.


Que: How does the group aim to increase its footprint in the Indian Market?

Ans: Recently, in terms of the forecast of the market and the way you have just mentioned that the Indian growth story is the driver for the decade to come. Maire Tecnimont Group is gearing itself to address it and for that, we have opened a new office in the Delhi NCR Region which is aimed to get relevant technology in the Indian market that is in the EPC market and energy transition sector. 


Que: What are the Group’s Green Hydrogen initiatives for the Indian market?

Ans: The Indian Government, in the last few months, has released the Green Hydrogen Mission and we have been saying that in the project’s revisions have been made for Green Hydrogen production. In the presentation also, we have mentioned that by 2030, India aims to produce 5 MMTP hydrogen per annum. All this will require organisations like us to support and bring this into a reality. For this, we are gearing up for green hydrogen as well as initiatives for the reduction of carbon emissions. Maire Tecnimont aims to leverage its capacity for innovation and technological know-how to support its market leadership in the natural resources transformation sector with a particular focus on the energy transition through green chemistry and circular economy.
