Electric mobility firm Zypp Electric announced its plans to deploy one lakh electric scooters for food delivery company Zomato by 2024. The scooters would be used for last-mile delivery. As a part of the collaboration, Zypp would also provide delivery partners for Zomato in many cities.

As part of the sustainable transportation plan, Zypp currently has around 13,000 electric vehicles running on the roads. With an aim to reduce carbon emissions by up to 35 million kg, the company plans to achieve more than 1 crore green deliveries through EVs by 2024.

This partnership is part of a larger plan of Zomato to go completely electric by 2030, as part of its commitment to "The Climate Group's EV100" initiative. Talking about the tie-up, Tushar Mehta, Co-founder and COO, Zypp Electric said, “Food delivery is all on 2-wheelers and is mostly running on petrol and at the same time wanting to shift to EVs to save costs. By leveraging our EV fleet management technology and innovative partner solutions, we aim to create a more efficient, sustainable, and customer-centric delivery experience."

Currently, Zypp has around 50 clients. The company is now expanding into various markets. Earlier this year, Zypp Electric, raised series B funding of USD 25 million led by battery-swapping ecosystem provider Gogoro. It plans to widen its footprint to 30 Indian cities by December 2025.
