Yashika Energy Systems, Next2Sun Germany, and Wattkraft India has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) during the recently concluded RE-INVEST 2024 in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. The partnership is significant at pushing the adoption of solar energy in agricultural land as it will use vertical solar technology.

The partnership will bring Next2Sun's cutting-edge vertical bifacial Agri-PV technology to India. This system enables solar panels to be mounted vertically, capturing sunlight on both sides, while preserving the land beneath for agricultural use. By combining energy generation with farming, this dual-purpose solution helps overcome the challenge of land displacement often associated with conventional solar farms.

The MoU signing was witnessed by Sascha Krause-Tünker, CFO of Next2Sun AG alongside German Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development Svenja Schulze, and India’s Minister of New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi.

Now, pilot projects, ranging from 100 kWp to 500 kWp, will be launched across different regions of India to demonstrate the feasibility of integrating solar energy generation with crop cultivation. Ultimately, these projects aim to create a scalable model for broader adoption nationwide. This initiative is set to play a key role in advancing India’s renewable energy goals while preserving its agricultural traditions.

Sascha Krause-Tünker commented, “With the support of both governments and the agricultural community, we are confident that these projects will set a new standard for sustainable development in India and inspire similar innovations globally.”
