The Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA) has awarded VP Solar Generation the contract to develop 66 solar power projects, each with a 4 MW capacity, totalling 264 MW.
These projects are part of the feeder-level solarisation initiative under Component-C of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan (PM-KUSUM) programme.
The project includes design, survey, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning, as per the Renewable Energy Service Company (RESCO) model. The solar projects will be installed at 66 kV substations of the Punjab State Power Corporation Ltd. (PSPCL) and are expected to generate around 400 million units of electricity annually. With an investment of INR 10.56 billion, the initiative is also anticipated to save the State INR 1.76 billion each year in agricultural subsidies.
The Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission (PSERC) has approved a tariff of INR 2.38 per kWh for power procurement from these projects, following a transparent bidding process that included 34 bids and an e-reverse auction conducted by PEDA. It is scheduled for completion by December 2025 and is expected to contribute to meeting Renewable Purchase Obligation (RPO) targets while supporting the reduction of carbon emissions in the State.
