Volkswagen to Collaborate with Ford, Vale and Zhejiang Huayou Cobalt to Construct EV Infrastructure in Indonesia

Automobile manufacturers are having bigger prospects for Indonesia for raw materials utilised in the production of EV batteries, which approximately for 40% of a vehicle's label price.
As per Indonesia’s Minister of Investment, Bahlil Lahadalia stated, the alliance would include joint ventures or the supply of raw materials.
He also said Volkswagen, Europe's largest automaker, will collaborate with Vale, Ford, Huayou, French miner Eramet, and other Indonesian firms containing Merdeka Gold Copper, the parent company of Merdeka Battery, and energy firm Kalla Group.
Indonesia, which has the world's largest nickel reserves, has been progressing to develop nickel downstream industries, with the ultimate target of producing batteries and EVs. The Southeast Asian nations possess cobalt reserves.
Volkswagen is a German auto vehicle maker based in Wolfsburg, Lower Saxony, Germany and established in the year of 1937.
Vale is a Brazilian multinational company engrossed in metals and mining. The entity produces and exports iron ore, nickel, manganese ore, ferroalloys, metallurgical and thermal coal, copper, and cobalt.
Ford Motor Company is multinational automobile manufacturer based in Dearborn, Michigan, United States. The organisation was started by Henry Ford and founded on June 16, 1903.
Huayou Cobalt Co., Ltd is mainly a cobalt supplier as well as delivers other forms of cobalt. It is headquartered in the Zhejiang, China.
