Volkswagen to Collaborate with Ford, Vale and Zhejiang Huayou Cobalt to Construct EV Infrastructure in Indonesia

The German auto maker Volkswagen is collaborating with miner Vale, Ford, and Chinese battery minerals manufacturer Zhejiang Huayou Cobalt to construct the EV infrastructure.
Automobile manufacturers are having bigger prospects for Indonesia for raw materials utilised in the production of EV batteries, which approximately for 40% of a vehicle's label price.
As per Indonesia’s Minister of Investment, Bahlil Lahadalia stated, the alliance would include joint ventures or the supply of raw materials.
He also said Volkswagen, Europe's largest automaker, will collaborate with Vale, Ford, Huayou, French miner Eramet, and other Indonesian firms containing Merdeka Gold Copper, the parent company of Merdeka Battery, and energy firm Kalla Group.
Indonesia, which has the world's largest nickel reserves, has been progressing to develop nickel downstream industries, with the ultimate target of producing batteries and EVs. The Southeast Asian nations possess cobalt reserves.
