The Uttar Pradesh New & Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA) has taken a significant step towards advancing solar energy in the state by inviting bids for the establishment of a cumulative capacity of 500 MW of grid-connected rooftop solar projects.

This initiative, conducted under the Renewable Energy Service Company (RESCO) model and based on net metering, focuses on government/semi-government buildings and other institutions in Uttar Pradesh.

The scope of the project encompasses the entire life cycle, including design, manufacture, supply, erection, testing, commissioning, warranty, and operation, for a 25 kW to 2,000 kW grid-connected rooftop solar system.

Interested parties have until January 2, to submit their bids, with the bid opening scheduled for January 3. The successful bidder will not only be responsible for the initial stages of the project but will also undertake the operation and maintenance for an extended period of 25 years post-commissioning.

To ensure the promotion of domestic manufacturing, the bid specifications require that the modules and cells used in the solar systems be manufactured within India. Compliance with the current Approved List of Models and Manufacturers of Solar Photovoltaic Modules is also mandatory.

Projects within the range of 25 kW to 2,000 kW are encouraged, allowing flexibility for single projects to consist of multiple rooftop units. Each unit may possess an independent grid connection and individual meters, but only one project per meter consumer number will be permitted, with a maximum project size of 2000 kW.

Bidders vying for this opportunity must demonstrate a proven track record in designing, supplying, installing, and commissioning grid-connected solar power projects and solar systems under the RESCO model.
