The Uttar Pradesh New And Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA) has unveiled three tenders aimed at facilitating the installation of 7 MW of grid-connected net-metered rooftop solar projects with battery backup.
These tenders, which come with the provision for UPNEDA to adjust capacity by up to 25 percent both during the contracting process and afterward, offer a significant opportunity for the expansion of renewable energy infrastructure in the state.
Tender 1 calls for selected bidders to install grid-connected net-metered rooftop solar projects ranging from 51 kW to 75 kW, aggregating to a total capacity of 1 MW. The projects are to be completed within 120 days from the issuance of the work order, with bids due by February 21, 2024, and an earnest money deposit (EMD) requirement of INR 3.47 million.
Additionally, selected bidders must furnish 5 percent of the project cost as a performance bank guarantee and demonstrate relevant experience and financial stability, including an average annual turnover of INR 52.1 million over the past three years.
Tender 2, on the other hand, seeks installations ranging from 1 kW to 10 kW, totaling 2 MW in capacity, with similar deadlines and eligibility criteria as Tender 1, albeit with a higher EMD requirement of INR 7.11 million.
Tender 3, targeting larger projects ranging from 11 kW to 50 kW, aims to install 4 MW in total capacity, with an estimated project cost of INR 687.4 million. Bidders for this tender must submit an EMD of INR 13.74 million and demonstrate an average annual turnover of INR 206.2 million over the last three years. The bids for Tender 3 are due by February 22, 2024.
With these tenders, UPNEDA aims to accelerate the adoption of solar energy and contribute significantly to Uttar Pradesh's renewable energy targets.
