UP government is proposing to establish a ‘solar city’ on 500 acres near river Saryu in Ayodhya.
The project is anticipated to meet the power need of the city to a huge extent.
As per officials of the district administration, Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has already made a detailed project report (DPR) for the initiative and has also finished surveillance works.
The solar city will be exactly same on the lines of a similar project near the Sabarmati river in Ahmedabad.
As per Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Authority (UPNEDA) official stated, although, there is uncertain nature of the river is a matter the developers are facing.
Saryu River shrinks and expands in an uncertain way. Thus, looking for a proper land area near the river is a big challenge. If the project emerges flourishing, it will meet the power supply need of Ayodhya to a large extent.
The district administration stated that green energy projects will be provided to government departments.
Moreover, solar lights have been at 450 places and solar panels installed in eight government buildings, such as the collectorate, commissioner’s office, and treasury.
