University of Mauritius Launches UoM-Huawei Cutting-Edge Solar Laboratory

A cutting-edge solar energy laboratory has been unveiled at the University of Mauritius. The laboratory has been set up with partaking of Huawei Mauritius. The course of action to a project marked as the Park of Excellence in Solar Photovoltaic (PESP) at the University of Mauritius.

University of Mauritius has launched UoM-Huawei Innovative Solar Energy Laboratory. This finished Laboratory amenity aided by Huawei is completed after the successful Fusion-Solar solution, showing the cooperative link between the University and Huawei Mauritius which targets progressing academic records.

A newer Solar Energy Laboratory was launched by the Vice-Prime Minister (VPM), Minister of Education, Tertiary Education, Science and Technology, Mrs Leela Devi Dookun-Luchoomun, at the University of Mauritius (UoM), in Réduit. 

The Laboratory has been installed with the aid of Huawei Mauritius and becomes a portion of a long-term project known as the Park of Excellence in Solar Photovoltaic (PESP) at the UoM.

This Laboratory project is targeted to give the UoM a global addressable in the matter of electricity use; evolve the potential and experts to aid Photovoltaic (PV) education, research, innovation and development, and share towards economic and societal development indigenously and worldwide.

In her address, Dookun-Luchoomun spotlighted that this laboratory explains that a milestone in the record of the Indian Ocean and appears at a time when the decarbonization of the power sector and the use of smart technologies are the prime discussions.

Further, she discussed that this project will facilitate industries, firms and companies with good supporting potential evolving in solar energy.

According to her, this initiative will give fresh input to the energy sector and PV education, research, innovation, and development.

Minister Lesjongard underlined this Solar Energy Laboratory will make students more aware of the subject of renewable energy, specifically regards solar PV, as well as allow the University to further research in the field of solar PV and PV-based microgrids.

As a significant partake of the Laboratory, Huawei CEO Zheng Kui has targeted the project to strengthen more to the youth generation of the nation with the essential tools and modern mindset which propels the Government’s Vision for Energy Transition.
