Union Power Minister R K Singh inaugurated two key energy-saving programs, the National Efficient Cooking Programme (NECP) and the Energy Efficient Fans Programme (EEFP).

These initiatives are part of the government's efforts to promote energy efficiency and sustainability.

The NECP, led by Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), encourages energy-efficient cooking methods. EESL's induction-based cookstoves offer a cost advantage of 25-30 percent compared to traditional methods, resulting in cost and energy savings for consumers.

The EEFP, another EESL program, focuses on promoting energy-efficient cooling solutions. It emphasises the deployment of energy-efficient BLDC fans to reduce energy consumption and minimise environmental impact.

By launching these programs, the Power Minister aims to further the government's commitment to energy efficiency and sustainability. These initiatives complement the recent star labeling program for solar panels, which informs consumers about the efficiency of their solar projects.

The launch event was attended by officials from the Ministries of Power and New & Renewable Energy, along with representatives from EESL and the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE).

Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) is a joint venture involving NTPC, Power Finance Corporation, REC, and POWERGRID, working towards promoting energy efficiency and sustainability in India.
