Mumbai-headquartered CleanMax and cement major UltraTech Cement recently entered into partnership for a 36.3 MW captive wind-solar hybrid project in the state of Karnataka.

In this regard, the agreement was signed between Raj Narayanan E.R, Chief Manufacturing Officer and Business Head of UltraTech Cement and Kuldeep Jain, MD and founder of CleanMax for investment in a wind-solar hybrid farm in Karnataka to help green UltraTech Cement’s operations.

The two organisations would collaborate to establish a 36.3 MW captive wind-solar hybrid project that would lead to carbon abatement of 1.44 lakh tons of CO2 equivalent annually, which is equivalent to planting 4,200 trees or taking 31,000 cars off the roads.

This project would be part of a larger wind-solar hybrid farm being developed by CleanMax in Karnataka, which would lead to carbon abatement of 9.4 lakh tons CO2 equivalent annually.

In another significant development last week, CleanMax partnered with Meta to invest in 33.8 MW of new renewable energy projects in India. CleanMax would own and operate the projects, while Meta would purchase 100 per cent of the environmental attributes from the projects for years to come.

The 33.8 MW of renewable energy project capacity is made up of 21.6 MW of wind and 12.2 MW of solar, which is in addition to 32 MW of wind energy jointly announced last year. This brings both the company’s total investment to 65 MW of new renewable energy that would be added to India’s electrical grid.
