UL DQS India, the Indian subsidiary of DQS Holding GmbH and the provider of management systems certification to various industries, launched ‘Energie’ project in Chennai amidst eminent personalities from the energy and sustainability industry across India.

The objective of this public private partnership project is to create energy efficient enterprises and contribute to sustainable industrial development in India. ENERGIE project is co-financed by DEG (One of Europe’s largest financial institution) and implemented by UL DQS India in association with ASSIST (a non-profit international capacity building organization) and Madras Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI). The project will capacitate energy management professionals and help in creating energy efficient enterprises and contribute to sustainable industrial development in India.

Dr. K Murugan, Managing Director & CEO, UL DQS India commented that “Energie Project is one more roll out as a part of our continued focus on the CSR initiatives to provide support to industries and society at large in areas of concerns such as Energy, Environment, Health and Safety. We have seen success and benefits to society with our earlier projects and hope that “Energie” will be of immense interest to our partner companies especially in today’s age of Energy costs and shortage. Partnership with industry associations & academic institutions, establishing training centres, training the trainers, providing technical assistance to energy experts etc are part of the project activities. The Energie project aims to mitigate the barriers like lack of awareness, shortage of education and training for implementation of energy efficiency measures not just among SMEs, MSMEs but also large enterprises.

Energie is one more project where ASSIST is collaborating with UL DQS India to propagate the philosophy of Sustainable growth.  The Project while creating awareness among the Indian Industries on energy Management system (ISO 50001) will also establish a state of the art energy training centre to equip the engineers and diploma holders with skill sets required to achieve energy efficient Industrial operations. The professionals graduating out of this program will move on to small Medium and large industries and help them achieve energy and operation efficiency. We believe this project will be of immense benefit to Indian industry and will help address the prevailing energy scenario of the country." Mr. Sreenivas Narayanan , Managing Director, ASSIST.
