Ukraine Aims 50 percent of Power from Renewable Sources

Switching to green energy will permit dispersion of electricity generation, minimising the liability and exposure of the power system, and raising the security of energy necessities.

Energy Minister of Ukraine Herman Galushchenko has stated Ukraine’s objective is to augment the contribution of renewable energy in its power production to 50 percent to uplift energy security.

He also further said, that by boosting the development of renewable energy sources and push the energy transition. This is a subject of growth, national security and the protection of power grid transmission.

Switching to green energy will permit dispersion of electricity generation, minimising the liability and exposure of the power system, and raising the security of energy necessities.
 
The data shows from the year 2011 to 2021, the contribution of renewable energy sources in Ukraine’s power generation rose from 4 percent to around 14 percent.

Ukraine’s Energy Strategy put forth the goal to augment the contribution of renewables in the energy combination to 25 percent by the year 2035.

Notably, Ukraine has century old reserves of oil and gas production and includes substantial conventional and unconventional hydrocarbon reserves, approximately measured as 9 billion tonnes of oil equivalent (Btoe).
