Uber has joined hands with Refex Green Mobility to deploy 1,000 electric vehicles (EVs) across key Indian cities by 2026.
This initiative is part of Uber’s strategy to expand EV adoption on its platform and align with its global goal of achieving 100 percent emission-free rides by 2040.
The fleet will be introduced in Chennai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Mumbai under Refex Green Mobility’s brand, Refex eVeelz. The collaboration aims to address the increasing demand for sustainable mobility in urban areas, the company said in a press release.
Commenting on the partnership, a spokesperson from Uber stated, “Our collaboration with Refex Green Mobility underscores our commitment to electrifying ride-sharing in India. By introducing 1,000 electric four-wheelers into our fleet, we are taking a major step toward providing cleaner, more sustainable transportation options for our riders.”
Refex Green Mobility also emphasized its dedication to sustainable mobility, with a spokesperson stating, “We are thrilled to partner with Uber in advancing the EV ecosystem in India. This initiative will not only reduce emissions but also create economic opportunities for driver-partners who transition to electric vehicles.”
As part of its broader EV initiatives, Uber has introduced Uber Green in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Kolkata. The feature allows passengers to book all-electric, zero tailpipe-emission rides through the app.
Uber, which entered India in 2013, now operates in 125 cities and has facilitated over 3 billion trips. The company aims to support driver-partners while enhancing urban mobility.
Refex Green Mobility is a subsidiary of Refex Industries Limited, part of the Refex Group. Established in 2002, the group has expanded into logistics, renewables, healthcare, and retail sectors.
