China-headquartered Trina Solar’s State Key Laboratory of PV Science and Technology (SKL PVST) said that it has achieved an efficiency of 24.5 per cent for the 210mm×210mm high-efficiency PERC solar cells.
The results have been independently confirmed by the National Institute of Metrology, China.
Solar panel manufacturer has set a new record for 210 P-type monocrystalline silicon PERC cells, and this is the 24th time that the company had created a new world record.
Commenting on the achievement, Dr. Yifeng Chen, head of the high-efficiency cell and module R&D center at Trina Solar, said “PERC is a very mature industrial technology with the lower cost. Our latest achievement indicates Trina Solar R&D team’s vigorous and innovative capabilities in mature technology in mass production. We are dedicated to making continuous R&D investment in the technology of mass production, and creating higher value for our customers.”
Trina Solar’s technologies include multi-layer anti-reflection, ultra-fine metallization finger, and super multi-busbars (MBB) that contribute to the 24.5 per cent efficiency.
The company said that it has continuously focused on transferring innovative technologies to manufacturing, to make efficiency achieved in the laboratory into speedy industrialization and consolidate technology leadership in high-efficiency cell mass production so that the high efficiency and high-value products become beneficial to the entire photovoltaic industry.
