Tesla to Establish Factory in India with Cars Price Starting INR 20 Lakh
The company is in talks with the Indian government to establish a car factory with an annual capacity of 500000 electric vehicles.

EV giant Tesla is in talks with the Indian government to establish a car factory with an annual capacity of 500000 electric vehicles with prices starting from INR 20 lakh. If all happens as anticipated, India's emerging EV market would get a significant boost. With its manufacturing base in India, it would be easier for Tesla to export cars to countries in the Indo-Pacific region.
Last month, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla Inc. & SpaceX in New York and appreciated his efforts at making technology accessible and affordable in various sectors. Prime Minister Modi invited Musk to explore opportunities in India for investments in electric mobility and the rapidly expanding commercial space sector.
According to the reports, Tesla has been holding various meetings with government officials as well as industry players to understand the potential establishment of its auto parts and electronics chain in India.
In a bid to reduce pollution and dependence on fossil fuels, India has been actively promoting the adoption of electric vehicles. The government has implemented various schemes and initiatives to attract investments in the EV sector and develop the required infrastructure.
