Tata Steel Special Economic Zone Limited and ACME Clean Energy signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at Bhubaneswar, signaling a strategic partnership for the production of Green Hydrogen and Green Ammonia at the Gopalpur Industrial Park.
Odisha's commitment to sustainable growth and green technology has been unwavering. Under the visionary leadership of Shri Naveen Patnaik, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Odisha, the state is rapidly emerging as a frontrunner in Green Hydrogen and Green Ammonia production.
The state's recently unveiled Industrial Policy Resolution 2022 highlights this commitment by categorizing Green Hydrogen and Green Ammonia as a thrust sector, thus providing it the highest benefits.
Such generous incentives have garnered interest from leading domestic and international Green Hydrogen and Green Ammonia investors. ACME has taken the pioneering step of being the first company to finalize a land deal.
Along with incentives, the state government is also focusing on developing world-class industrial infrastructure for the sector. The government has identified Paradeep and Gopalpur as the two major hubs for the production of Green Hydrogen and Green Ammonia. In collaboration with the Government of India, the state Government is also developing high-voltage electrical infrastructure and dedicated power supply.
Further, in order to accelerate the National Green Hydrogen Mission, the Government of India has identified Paradeep Port as one of the three key hydrogen storage hubs in India. The Government of Odisha is also developing a dedicated pipeline corridor to the Gopalpur port from the land parcels identified for setting up green hydrogen and green ammonia production units. Along with this, the state government has also come up with lucrative offers for investors looking to set up electrolyzer production facilities.
Speaking during the occasion, Hemant Sharma, IAS, Principal Secretary, Industries Department and Chairman, IDCO & IPICOL said, “We envision Odisha as the hub of Green Hydrogen and Green Ammonia and a leader in the Green Fuel Economy. The state government is firmly committed to green energy, recognizing it as the fulcrum of our future. To catalyze this vision, we're offering best-in-class incentives. Our progressive policy is a testament to our dedication towards a sustainable and prosperous future.”
Manoj K Upadhyay, Founder and Chairman, ACME Group said, “We are grateful to the Shri Naveen Patnaik, Hon'ble Chief Minister of Odisha, the Department of Industries, Govt of Odisha, and other stakeholders for extending support to ACME Group's Green Hydrogen and Green Ammonia project in the State. We have signed the land agreement with Tata Steel Special Economic Zone Limited for setting up the facilities. We extend our sincere gratitude to the Hon’ble Union Minister for Power, New and Renewable Energy Shri R K Singh, and the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy for their constant support and persuasion to take up the Green Hydrogen and Green Ammonia project to make India a global hub for Green Hydrogen and its derivatives. This project will help us to offer Make In India Green Hydrogen and Green Ammonia to domestic and international markets at competitive prices. We are also happy to announce the great outcome of the recently held Odisha Business Meet in Tokyo led by the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Odisha and delegation, which will be fructified through this project. Japan’s IHI Corporation has also signed a preliminary agreement during the summit to invest in green energy project in Odisha.”
