Solar EPC company Tata Power Solar Systems Ltd (TPSSL) has received the 'Letter of Award' (LoA) worth Rs 596 crore from NHDC Ltd (NHDC) for setting up a 125 MWp floating solar photovoltaic (PV) project.

Earlier this year, NHDC had invited bids to develop a floating solar project at the Omkareshwar reservoir in the Khandwa district of Madhya Pradesh. The company had won this project under tariff-based competitive bidding.

Commenting on the project win, Ashish Khanna, CEO, Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited said, “This is a significant project for Tata Power Solar and we are honoured to collaborate with NHDC. This partnership will highlight our working and project execution diversity to promote green energy across sectors. Floating solar projects are the game changer for the renewable industry. This project is a true reflection of our ability to pioneer world-class solar projects within a short period of time.”

Moreover, the project is expected to be commissioned within 13 months from the date of the LoA issued to the company and would provide sustainable power to M. P. Power Management Company Ltd.

Post completion, this project would be one of the country’s largest floating solar power projects.

With this win, the company’s total utility-scale solar project portfolio touched 9.8 GWp. As on date, its total order book stood at Rs 14,908 crore.

Tata Power Solar Systems Ltd is the wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd, in which Tata Power holds a 93.94 per cent stake. On the other hand, NHDC is a joint venture (JV) of NHPC Ltd and the Government of Madhya Pradesh.
