Tata Power Inks MoU with OREDA to Accelerate Rooftop Solar Adoption in Odisha under PM Surya Ghar

Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd. (TPREL), a subsidiary of Tata Power, has partnered with the Odisha Renewable Energy Development Agency (OREDA) to promote rooftop solar adoption in Odisha under the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Yojana.

Tata Power, through its renewable arm Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd. (TPREL), has partnered with the Odisha Renewable Energy Development Agency (OREDA) to drive awareness and accelerate rooftop solar adoption under the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Yojana (PMSGY).

This initiative focuses on promoting public awareness of renewable energy benefits, enabling seamless installation of reliable solar solutions with lifetime care, and reducing the financial burden for consumers.

The program will initially target key cities like Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Puri, Paradip, Berhampur, Sambalpur, Balasore, and Rourkela, with plans to gradually expand across the state.

In addition to offering financial benefits, the partnership will enhance Odisha’s solar ecosystem through public education campaigns, technical training for local vendors, and strengthened community engagement.

Tata Power, one of India’s largest integrated power companies, manages power distribution in Odisha through its four DISCOMs in partnership with the State Government. The scheme will be implemented through the DISCOMs which will play a pivotal role in bringing solar energy to households.

The MoU was signed by Saidutta Biplab Keshari Pradhan, CEO, OREDA Ltd. and Dr. Praveer Sinha, CEO and MD, Tata Power in the presence of the Deputy Chief Minister of Odisha K.V. Singh Deo and Manoj Ahuja, Chief Secretary, Government of Odisha.

Odisha offers the highest solar subsidies in India, providing up to INR 60,000 for rooftop solar systems up to 3 kW. Combined with the INR 78,000 central government subsidy, consumers can avail total subsidies of up to INR 1,38,000 for rooftop solar units up to 3 kW, making solar energy more accessible and affordable for residential customers.
