Tata Power generates 3212 MUs in Q3 FY13-14

Tata Power, one of India’s largest integrated power companies, announced generation of 3212 MUs of power in Q3 FY13-14 and 10513 MUs in YTD FY14. The Company, together with its subsidiaries and jointly controlled entities, has an installed gross generation capacity of 8560 MW including thermal (coal, gas and oil), hydroelectric power, renewable energy (wind and solar PV) and waste heat recovery, reinforcing its position as one of the largest integrated power companies in India.

 

The Company continued its robust operations with sales volume for the quarter ended December 31, 2913 at 3,547 MUs. Tata Power’s subsidiaries CGPL and MPL have contributed significantly after achieving full operations. Haldia plant reported generation of 246 MUs in the quarter ended December 31, 2013 as compared to 239 MUs in the corresponding quarter last year. Hydro power plants have generated 387 MUs as against 341 MUs in the previous year, recording an incremental generation of 14% in FY14 The Company is one of the leading generators of wind and solar energy in the country and shall endeavour  to get 20-25% of its portfolio from clean energy sources. With its relentless pursuit, Tata Power has installed generation capacity of 1102 MW through clean and green energy sources.

Tata Power has recently been honoured with the Silver Shield Award by the Central Electricity Authority (CEA) in two categories under its ‘Comprehensive Award Scheme’. The Company has been awarded for its excellence in ‘Performance for Distributing Power to the city of Mumbai’ and ‘Performance of Thermal Power Company’ for Trombay Combined Cycle Power Station. Tata Power won four awards at the 53rd Association of Business Communicators Awards Nite 2013 held at Mumbai and was also conferred with the CII ITC Sustainability Award 2013 for sustainable development

 

Tsitsikamma and Amakhala wind projects being developed by Tata Power’s joint venture in South Africa, Cennergi have achieved financial closure. 126 MW Dagachhu Project is being developed in partnership with The Royal Government of Bhutan. The civil works are progressing as planned and 99% concreting has been completed. Tunnel excavation and tunnel lining is in progress. The project is being pursued to be commissioned around May 2014, before monsoon. The Company has also announced the start of construction of first phase of 185 MW Shuakhevi Hydropower Project in Georgia being implemented through a joint venture with Clean Energy Invest AS (Clean Energy) and IFC InfraVentures for developing hydro projects in Georgia, for sale of power primarily to Turkey. During the quarter, a ground breaking ceremony for construction of the first phase of 185 MW Shuakhevi Hydropower Project was held.
