Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (Tata Power-DDL), a premier power distribution company in India, has partnered with Probus Smart Things Private Limited, a AI-driven data analytics solutions, to revolutionize smart metering technology through the adoption of a Universal Network Interface Card (NIC) with Bluetooth-enabled communication.

The Universal NIC, designed to enhance smart metering capabilities, represents a breakthrough in the energy sector by enabling reliable and efficient communication even in the absence of primary networks.

Key features include enhanced connectivity through Bluetooth-enabled communication, which ensures meter data collection and operations like reconnection/disconnection even in challenging network conditions. Additionally, a multi-point star connectivity system with a robust network availability-checking algorithm supports seamless communication via neighboring meters. The Network Interface Controller (NIC) is also designed to integrate seamlessly with Tata Power-DDL’s consumer mobile applications and meter reading systems, enhancing the overall user experience.

As part of this collaboration, Tata Power-DDL and Probus will jointly create innovative use cases to advance smart metering technology and will file joint patents to protect the intellectual property arising from these efforts.

Gajanan S. Kale, Chief Executive Officer, Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited commented, "We are excited to collaborate with Probus Smart Things to adopt this cutting-edge technology. This initiative aligns with Tata Power-DDL’s vision of providing reliable, efficient, and sustainable solutions for our consumers."

Anand Singh, Founder & CEO of Probus Smart Things, expressed his enthusiasm, "This partnership highlights our commitment to innovation and delivering smart, reliable solutions for the power distribution sector. By working closely with Tata Power-DDL, we aim to set a new standard in smart metering technology."

This collaboration not only fosters innovation in the energy sector but also strengthens the vision of a smarter, digitally connected grid. The advanced NIC will initially serve Tata Power-DDL’s operations, with plans to extend its benefits to other utilities and geographies in the future.
