Tata Power Club Enerji organizes National ‘Energy- Q & Carnival’ 2014
Cambridge Foundation School, Delhi crowned Energy Q champion

Club Enerji, Tata Power's nationwide energy conservation programme today announced the champions of the National Energy Q 2014 in the grand finale organized at Community Centre, Tata Colony, Chembur Mumbai. Energy Q and Carnival are the annual features that enable the Club to propagate the message of energy and resource conservation in a fun and more engaging manner. It is the culmination of the entire year’s sensitization programme. Mr. Anil Sardana, Managing Director, Tata Power graced the quiz competition and felicitated the winners of Energy Q 2014.
A total of 200 schools participated during the preliminary round in the respective cities. Post city finals, 36 teams participated in the quarter final round and 12 teams in the semifinals. The final day of the competition included the all-day ‘Energy and Natural Resources Carnival’ which showcased intriguing projects by the school students on the themes of water management, energy conservation, fuel conservation, and environment protection. The students presented working models which can be prototypes of newer and more sustainable technology. Students enthralled the audience with their talented performances which carried messages of conservation, gender equality and healthy lifestyle. Principals, parents, energy mentors and students shared their experiences of Club Enerji.
The audience was educated on the emergence of Club Enerji and the path it has followed through a special film called ‘Journey So Far’. The event was rounded off with the final peg of the National Quiz Championship. After an intense competition between the schools, Cambridge Foundation School from Delhi emerged as the winners of the quiz held on 10th January 2014.
Tata Power's ‘Energy Conservation Programme' introduced in more than 400 schools in the city, aims at creating maximum impact by educating and creating awareness amongst people on the effective management and conservation of energy in our everyday life. Club Enerji also encourages students to form their own mini clubs in their schools and societies to reach out to more citizens. The Club members have collectively saved 8.7 million units of electricity and sensitized more than 5.2 million (52 lakh) citizens across the nation. This saving is equivalent to saving 8700 tonnes of CO2 and is enough to light up approximately 4090 houses for a year. Tata Power has added a feather to its cap by organizing Energy-Q championship to honour the young minds on their Energy Quotient.
