Sunsure Energy Commences Solar Power Supply to Merino Industries

Combined with the recent PPA agreement, Merino Industries will be able to source more than 60 percent of the plant’s energy needs with clean, renewable energy, significantly advancing their environmental sustainability initiatives.

Sunsure Energy announces the commencement of solar power supply to Merino Industries. The companies had signed a solar PPA for intra-state supply of solar power earlier this year, enabling Sunsure to supply approximately 10 million units of Renewable energy annually to Merino’s Hapur plant.

The company had earlier constructed and delivered a rooftop solar solution for the same plant in May 2020. Combined with the recent PPA agreement, Merino Industries will be able to source more than 60 percent of the plant’s energy needs with clean, renewable energy, significantly advancing their environmental sustainability initiatives.

Their recent partnership with Sunsure Energy marks another key milestone in collaboration for both companies and underscores Merino Industries’ dedication to further reducing the carbon footprint of their operations. The PPA will enable Merino Industries save several thousand tonnes of CO2e annually, significantly augmenting their sustainability efforts. This initiative will also help Merino to further reduce their Scope 2 emissions and meet its commitment to SBTI (Science Based Targets Initiative) goals, to which it is a signatory.

Prakash Lohia, Managing Director of Merino Industries, expressed his enthusiasm about the partnership: “We are delighted to partner with Sunsure once again to further decarbonize the energy use of our Hapur facility. This Open Access agreement reaffirms our long-term commitment to sustainability and will complement our existing in-house rooftop and biomass based clean energy generation.
