Sun Petrochemicals has signed an MoU with the Telangana government to develop 3 Pumped Storage Hydro Power projects in Nagarkurnool, Mancherial, and Mulugu districts, with a combined capacity of 3,400 MW.

Alongside, integrated solar power plants totalling 5,440 MW will be developed, driving the state's green energy goals.

The MoU was signed at the World Economic Forum (WEF) 2025 at Davos.

These projects come with an estimated INR 45,500 crore investment, creating over 7,000 jobs during the construction phase. This is set to boost socio-economic growth, particularly in these regions.

This deal continues that momentum in the renewable energy sector. “Telangana is broadening its investment base, creating massive job opportunities and transforming areas like Nagarkurnool, Mancherial, and Mulugu,” said Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.

Dilip Shanghvi, MD, Sun Petrochemicals commented, “Telangana is becoming an irresistible force of an investment destination since the last 12 months, under the leadership of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.”

In WEF Davos, Telangana government received interest from multiple players to invest in the state. Amazon Web Services has agreed to invest INR 60,000 crore in building new data centres in Telangana.

The Government of Telangana entered into an MoU with JSW UAV Ltd., a subsidiary of JSW Defence, to establish a state-of-the-art Unmanned Aerial Systems manufacturing facility in the state with an investment of INR 800 crore.
