SUN Mobility has rolled out retrofit kits for Tata ACE vehicles in partnership with Bluwheelz.

This initiative provides fleet operators with the opportunity to transform their current Tata ACE vehicles, whether equipped with internal combustion engines (ICE) or fixed batteries, into swappable electric vehicles (EVs) using SUN Mobility’s battery-swapping technology.

The launch event was attended by Tata ACE fleet operators and financiers. The retrofit kits are presented as a cost-effective alternative to buying new diesel or CNG vehicles. Officials noted that operators who switch from CNG vehicles to retrofit battery-swapping EVs could potentially save around 30 percent in monthly expenses, while those converting from diesel vehicles might save about 40 percent per month.

The electric Tata ACE, equipped with SUN Mobility’s swappable battery technology, is said to provide benefits such as longer vehicle lifespan, lower operational costs, and increased uptime. Additionally, the ability to operate during no-entry hours in Delhi is highlighted as a potential advantage for enhancing productivity.

The retrofit kits are described as a way for businesses to comply with government regulations requiring a shift to electric vehicles, allowing them to continue operations without needing significant investment in new vehicles.

Anant Badjatya, CEO of SUN Mobility, mentioned that the initiative would first launch in the NCR region before expanding to other states. Sanjiv Gupta, Founder & Chairman of Bluwheelz, expressed support for the collaboration, describing the retrofit kits as an effective way to transition to electric vehicles while reducing carbon footprint and improving operational efficiency.
