Electric vehicles are on the rise and will soon dominate the automobile sector. Internal combustion engines and gasoline tanks will be replaced, respectively, by an electric powertrain and a battery.
The most significant aspect of an EV is the electric powertrain, which creates and provides the necessary power for the vehicle to move on the road surface.
For the past four years, Bengaluru-based retrofitting scooter firm 'Starya Mobility' has been working on developing a cost-effective electric powertrain and has successfully designed a 5.5kw proprietary PMSM Motor & Controller that would convert a petrol scooter to pure electric. Currently, the company plans to convert existing petrol scooters to electric, and it will also assist in the conversion of light-duty conventional cars to electric in the future.
Starya Mobility is the first firm in India to introduce an ARAI-approved electric powertrain that was built in-house.
As reported by ANI, this ARAI-approved electric powertrain will be a game-changer in the EV market by directly altering the electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem. It is one of a kind, having been developed and tested in India to match Indian roads and withstand climatic conditions.
Apart from selling its innovative electric powertrain and providing RTO-approved complete retrofitting services, the company is also open to B2B collaborations for motor and controller supply to help the EV sector grow globally and meet market expectations.
"We are the front runner in electric powertrain developed indigenously, till today no other EV company or retrofitting company has launch EV vehicle or powertrain developed purely on indigenous technology and material. They either import the vehicle or the parts or assemble them in India which doesn't make it cost-effective whereas Starya Mobility's every component and technology is developed and manufactured in India by networking with local vendors and suppliers, most of them are from the Peenya industrial area of Bengaluru. With the motivation from Atmanirbhar Bharat(self-reliant India), we focused on local vendors and suppliers that helped us to cut costs to develop a cost-effective electric powertrain" co-founder Ravi Kumar said.
People interested in embracing EV technology, as well as EV producers aiming to reduce production costs, will benefit from the 5.5 KW PMSM motor and 250 A controller unit.
Starla's electric drivetrain has been thoroughly tested and determined to be suitable for both two-wheelers and three-wheelers. The ARAI-approved powertrain's sturdy design and engineering have outperformed on Indian roads.
Retrofitting the scooter will be a better way to meet the goal since existing petrol scooters can be converted to electric bikes with the help of fuel from the electric conversion kit.
