Stakeholders Discuss the Future of Green Hydrogen at IPHE Steering Committee Meeting

The focus was on facilitating collaboration and dialogue to promote the development of clean and green hydrogen technologies.

The fourth day of the 41st Steering Committee Meeting of the International Partnership for Hydrogen and Fuel Cells in the Economy (IPHE), held in New Delhi, saw stakeholders gathering for a consultation. The focus was on facilitating collaboration and dialogue to promote the development of clean and green hydrogen technologies.

Addressing the gathering, Special Secretary P. Kumaran from the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, emphasized the transformative potential of green hydrogen, stating, "Green Hydrogen can drastically alter the nation’s energy supply chain over the next 20 years."

Sudeep Jain, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy, highlighted the role of green hydrogen in decarbonizing the economy and addressing climate change. Vice Chair of IPHE, Dr. Noe Van Hulst, praised India's National Green Hydrogen Mission, stating that achieving its targets would position the country at the forefront of global hydrogen development.

Vineet Mittal, Chairperson of the CII Taskforce on Green Hydrogen, emphasized the need for support from international bodies like the WTO and the UN to facilitate the adoption of green hydrogen.

Ajay Yadav, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, welcomed the developing green hydrogen ecosystem in India and emphasized the importance of robust and globally accepted standards.

Following the inaugural session, panel discussions delved into various aspects of green hydrogen technology. Topics included the significance of standards and certification, safety measures, international trade policies, and financial innovation.

Panels highlighted the need for strong standards, safety measures, collaboration on trade policies, and financial innovation to scale up clean and green hydrogen technologies. The Stakeholders’ Consultation Day concluded with an emphasis on the commitment of stakeholders to drive the transition towards sustainable energy solutions through collaboration and innovation.
