India’s one of the oldest photovoltaic (PV) module manufacturers Solex Energy has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with China’s Jinchen Machinery for 1.2 GW of fully-automated module production line.
The move is in-line with Gujarat-based PV module maker’s ground breaking ceremony, held in October 2020, for the construction of its 1.5 GW PV module manufacturing facility near Surat in Gujarat, which is in the advanced stage of completion.
Additionally, NSE-listed Solex is also planning to go for backward integration by putting up a 1 GW solar cell manufacturing line in coming years.
Commenting on the partnership, Chetan Shah of Solex Energy said, “we are very upbeat to join hands with Jinchen as they are leading PV machinery manufacturing company in the world and we’ll be greatly benefitted with their technical expertise in the field.”
As per the MoU signed, this fully-automated 1.2 GW module production line will be commenced in two phases. In phase-I, 600 MW will be commissioned by October this year, while in phase-II, the work for remaining 600 MW will begin immediately after the phase-I production commenced.
The company, which is already having its manufacturing plant at Anand in Gujarat since 2007, said that “this production line will be capable of manufacturing modules up to M12/G12 multi busbar solar cells with Microgap Technology.”
“We are happy to sign this contract with our old partner Solex Energy. This strategic partnership between Solex and Jinchen will bring a new era of manufacturing high wattage panels of world class standard. Being leader in offering Turnkey supply, Jinchen shall be providing all newest and latest equipment to Solex to be a leader in the segment,” commented Adam Ge, COO of Jinchen Group.
