SOLARWATT module delivers top yields in the TÜV Rheinland Energy Yield Test 2011

Degradation values of just 0.2 percent over a year affirm the SOLARWATT performance promise.

The SOLARWATT module M250-60 AC with 245 Wp from the SOLARWATT ORANGE LINE came in top in the TÜV Rheinland "Energy Yield Test 2011", which tests the performance of solar modules from different manufacturers at the site in Cologne. The modules were tested for a year under outdoor installation conditions and regular checks carried out on their energy yield and properties by TÜV Rheinland. 14 mono- and polycrystalline solar modules were tested in total from eleven renowned manufacturers, including the German solar pioneer SOLARWATT, as well as Yingli, Bosch Solar, Trina Solar, Suntech and Solarworld.

SOLARWATT exceeds its performance promise in the test In the run-up, the modules were tested based on their performance promise. Although the label stated 245 Wp, the SOLARWATT module actually achieved 246.73 Wp according to the company's own measurements. TÜV Rheinland measured an output of 246.5 Wp*, which proves both the "added sorting“, as well as the high quality standard of solar modules produced by SOLARWATT.

SOLARWATT only manufactures in Germany and has been a leading manufacturer of photovoltaic solutions for around 20 years. Our modules only leave production if they fulfil or exceed the value specified on the label, in this case 245 Wp (+0 to +5 Wp). The SOLARWATT module achieved particularly goods results in the TÜV Rheinland Energy Yield Test 2011 with regard to the module nominal capacity It occupies a top position among all modules tested.

Low degradation value of just 0.2% p.a. SOLARWATT also achieved outstanding results for annual degradation. According to the results of TÜV Rheinland, the degradation value over the year came in at just 0.2%. This value is calculated from the measured output before the test (246.5Wp*) and after the modules have been cleaned and measured following the year-long outdoor test (246.0Wp*). The SOLARWATT module therefore showed an extremely low degradation value in the Energy Yield Test 2011. It lies significantly below the average annual degradation value for solar modules of 0.5% to 1%.

Detlef Neuhaus, Chairman of the Management Board at SOLARWATT AG, commented on the result: "We are particularly pleased that our quality promise and development expertise have been confirmed so impressively in this extensive comparison test by an independent party. It is all the more significant as, in light of the large number of international competitors who took part in the test, it underlines the leading quality offered by products "Made in Germany". Last but not least, the test result also highlights the quality of our new system solution. The tested module can be used in developed form as part of our new SOLARWATT ENERGY SOLUTION product group, which will be ready to be launched on the market in 2012. This system will enable our customers to cover up to 80% of their own energy requirements themselves in the near future. With the high-quality SOLARWATT modules, the SOLARWATT Energy Manager for intelligent energy control and the SOLARWATT storage solution – all perfectly coordinated and supplied from a single source."
