Solar Panels Commenced on Two BMC Office Buildings in Maharashtra

To minimise the monthly electricity bills, various solar panels were commenced on the rooftop in two ward offices of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) – P-south ward and M-west ward.

The P-south ward in Mumbai includes location including Goregaon and Oshiwara, whereas the M-west ward in Mumbai location like Chembur, Tilak Nagar and Mahul.

The P-south ward commenced a 25 kilowatt (KW) on-grid solar rooftop, whereas the M-west ward commissioned a 50 KW on-grid rooftop.

93 rooftop panels were set-up on the rooftop of the M-west ward at a cost of INR 34.6 lakh.

It will save approximately INR 5 lakh every year, adding that the cost of the project will be recovered in six years.

To minimise the monthly electricity bills, various solar panels were commenced on the rooftop in two ward offices of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) – P-south ward and M-west ward.

The solar panels, usually, which have a life span of 25 years, will assist save over INR 1.2 crore in the coming years on electricity bills.

Correspondingly, in the P-south ward, a 25KW on-grid solar rooftop was installed at the cost of around INR 22 lakh.

In this year’s budget, BMC’s mechanical and electrical department has allocated worth of INR 90 lakh for a rooftop solar power plant.
