The 300 MW utility project powered by SOFAR has been successfully commissioned in the southern expanse of China's Tengger Desert, marking a significant step towards green power generation and environmental restoration.

Anticipated to produce a substantial 540 million kWh of clean electricity annually, the solar plant is set to become a beacon of eco-friendly energy solutions. Located in the country's fourth-largest desert, the project aims not only to contribute to clean power but also to restore 5.2 square kilometers of grassland.

Following its imminent connection to the grid this week, the solar facility is expected to save a noteworthy 160,000 tons of Standard Coal Equivalent (SCE) per year, significantly reducing the carbon footprint.

The project features over 1,300 sets of SOFAR 255KTL-HV inverters, known for their exceptional performance and efficiency. With a maximum efficiency rate of 99.02 percent, these inverters ensure optimal energy conversion and system output. Designed to withstand the challenges of the harsh desert environment, the inverters boast IP66 protection and C5 anti-corrosion features, guaranteeing robust durability.

One of the standout features of the SOFAR inverters is the smart string-level disconnection (SSLD) capability, enhancing operational efficiency and safety. This feature enables the isolation of faulty strings, minimizing potential impacts on the overall system performance. The inclusion of I-V scanning further enhances the system's reliability, allowing for the accurate and swift identification of faulty strings and facilitating quick troubleshooting.

Xiaoyong He, Chief Project Engineer of POWERCHINA, the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) partner for the project, expressed satisfaction with the collaboration. "The success we achieved won't be possible without the support from our partners. We're delighted to collaborate with SOFAR on a project of significant scale. To our satisfaction, SOFAR inverters operate stably during the whole process, so we're convinced about a stable power supply and high yields in the future operation," he said.

Ethan Shi, Head of SOFAR China, highlighted the company's commitment to carbon neutrality. "With several ongoing projects in partnership with POWERCHINA nationwide, we're able to leverage their expertise and resources to further expand our presence and make an impact. We welcome the opportunities ahead and look forward to achieving great success together."

The successful commissioning of this solar project signifies a leap forward in China's clean energy landscape.
