The IElectrix-Shakti project was recently launched at St. Xavier’s School at Civil Lines in New Delhi. It is a smart grid demonstrator combining solar photovoltaic (PV) technology, battery storage, smart transformer and energy management system.
The name ‘Shakti’ means Power, highlighting the fact that there is a need to change the paradigm of the approach to energy production and consumption.
The project is one of the co-funded projects from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research & innovation programme. Horizon 2020, now Horizon Europe, is the biggest and most ambitious programme with a strong focus on the European Green Deal.
This project aims to increase self-consumption of solar energy, power quality, prosumer involvement, and electricity supply resilience. It was implemented by a consortium led by Enedis in partnership with Tata Power-DDL, Schneider Electric, Odit-e, and Geco Global.
The dignitaries present at the launch event include Subrata Das, Chief-Operations and Safety, Ganesh Srinivasan, CEO, Tata Power-DDL, Pierre-Jacques Le Quellec, IElectrix Project Coordinator, Jean-Baptiste Djebbari, French Minister of Transport and Representative of the French, Krishan Pal Gurjar, Minister of State of Power and Heavy Industries, Ugo Astuto, EU Ambassador to India and Antoine Jourdain, CTO & International VP, Enedis.
