SLR Solar Secures ALMM Approval for 1 GW TOPCon Modules, Eyes Cell Manufacturing and BESS Expansion
SLR Solar has secured ALMM List-I approval for 1,020 MW of module manufacturing capacity for its bifacial N-Type TOPCon G12R modules and plans to expand into G12R cell manufacturing and battery energy storage systems (BESS) manufacturing as part of its vertical integration strategy.

Rajasthan-based solar module manufacturer SLR Solar has just entered India's Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) List-I with 1,020 MW of bifacial N-Type TOPCon module capacity, registered under R 84006610 and manufactured at its facility in Bargaon, Kishangarh, on the Jaipur Highway (NH-8).
The approval, valid from August 2026 through August 2030, covers its SLR-HG132N series — glass-to-glass modules built on 132 half-cut G12R cells, ranging from 610 Wp to 650 Wp, said Kamal Yadav, Director, SLR Solar.
He further added, “We built our module line around G12R — the rectangular wafer format — because it strikes the right balance for utility-scale deployment: higher power density per module, lower balance-of-system cost, and strong bifacial gain, all without pushing installers into unfamiliar handling or mounting requirements. As developers across India chase lower LCOE on tighter land parcels, we've seen G12R TOPCon move from a niche choice to a mainstream one, and our ALMM listing reflects the scale we've built to meet that demand.”
Looking ahead, the company plans to expand into G12R solar cell manufacturing as part of its backward integration strategy. “This matters for two reasons: it reduces our dependence on imported cells at a time when India's domestic content requirements are only getting stricter, and it gives us tighter control over quality, cost, and delivery timelines for our customers,” said Yadav.
SLR Solar is also evaluating the establishment of a battery energy storage system (BESS) manufacturing line as it looks to address the increasing demand for integrated solar-plus-storage solutions in India. The company said that the move aligns with the growing requirement for dispatchable renewable energy as utilities and developers increasingly adopt hybrid renewable energy projects.
Yadav remarked, “I see this as part of a larger shift already underway among Indian manufacturers: moving from assembly to full vertical integration, from modules to cells to storage. Policy support — PLI schemes, ALMM mandates, and customs duty structures — has tilted the market decisively toward domestic value addition, and companies that build the full stack now will be the ones setting the pace over the next five years.”
