Trina Solar, joined forces with five other prominent manufacturers—Astronergy, Canadian Solar, Risen Energy, TCL Zhonghuan, and Tongwei—to establish the 700W+ Photovoltaic Open Innovation Ecological Alliance.

This milestone follows the collective launch of a groundbreaking initiative on December 11, where the manufacturers aimed to standardize and apply the design of 700W+ PV modules, marking a significant shift in the industry towards the PV 700W+ era.

Building upon the standard dimensions of 700W+ ultra-high-power modules and leveraging the 'T/CPIA 0003-2022 Technical Specification for Crystalline Silicon Terrestrial Photovoltaic Module Dimensions and Mounting Holes' document issued by the China Photovoltaic Industry Association, the alliance has proposed that 700W modules across all PV companies adhere to agreed-upon industry dimensions.

The specified module size is 2384mm x 1303mm, with a module long-side vertical hole distance of 400mm/1400mm, and an added standard hole distance of 790mm.

The strategic focus on enhancing module efficiency and power output aims to reduce the Levelized Cost of Electricity (LCOE), aligning with the industry's inexorable trend. The companies highlight that collaborative efforts through the PV open innovation ecological alliance facilitated the industry's entry into the 600W+ era three years ago.

Now, with advancements in n-type high-efficiency cell technology (TOPCon, HJT, etc) and G12 (210mm) large-format wafer technology, the power output of PV modules has surged from 600W+ to 700W+.

The initiative calls for all PV companies to promote standardisation of module dimensions and the industrialization of ultra-high-power and ultra-high-efficiency modules. This collective effort is poised to propel the industry towards the industrialization of 700W+ PV modules.

The upgraded 700W+ Photovoltaic Open Innovation Ecological Alliance is expected to create substantial opportunities throughout the entire supply chain. By enhancing supply chain efficiencies, boosting production, and lowering costs, the alliance aims to accelerate the industrialization of 700W+ products, reduce LCOE, and maximize the value of solar PV.
