SINGULUS and JINCHEN Strengthen Partnership to Boost Solar Cell Equipment Sales in India
JINCHEN and SINGULUS showcased their advanced solar module and cell manufacturing solutions at the Renewable Energy India Expo 2024 (REI), promoting technologies like Heterojunction (HJT) and TOPCon while highlighting their joint venture’s goal to drive solar cell production growth in India.

Solar module manufacturing equipment specialist Yingkou Jinchen Machinery Co. Ltd. (JINCHEN) and German solar cell equipment specialist Singulus Technologies AG (SINGULUS) showcased their module and cell manufacturing solutions as part of their newly formed joint venture at the Renewable Energy India (Expo) 2024 at Greater Noida.
Both companies asserted that the REI Expo 2024 concluded on a positive note for the JV. JINCHEN continues to expand its market for PV module assembly lines in India and unveiled the first major award for its PERTop PV Cell Equipment. SINGULUS promoted its Heterojunction (HJT) PV cell equipment to key manufacturers.
The joint venture (JV) specialises in delivering production solutions spanning from cell to module lines, focusing on Heterojunction and TOPCon technologies. “Together, through this joint venture, we aim to accelerate the adoption of cutting-edge PV Cell technology in India's rapidly growing solar market,” said Vikas Singh, General Manager – Global Business at Yingkou Jinchen Machinery.
SINGULUS is well known to solar cell manufacturers in India. The first Sputter/PVD Vacuum Deposition and Wet-Chemical equipment was installed as early as 2012. Prior to that, machines were installed for semiconductor applications. “JINCHEN’s track record among India’s PV Module manufacturers offers an excellent opportunity for SINGULUS’ PV Cell expertise to complement with Turnkey Cell lines and accelerate ramping up manufacturing in India,” said Lars Lieberwirth, responsible for driving the Joint Venture’s efforts.
This joint venture is particularly significant given that the Indian government intends to include solar cells in the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) from April 1, 2026. In fact, the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) recently notified a draft amendment to the ALMM order to include solar PV cells.
Once implemented, all projects under ALMM's purview must mandatorily source their solar PV modules from models and manufacturers included in ALMM List-I. Such solar PV modules, in turn, shall have to use solar PV cells from amongst the models and manufacturers enlisted in the proposed ALMM List-II for solar PV cells.
Against this backdrop, a significant capacity expansion in solar cell manufacturing is expected. In fact, many domestic players have already announced their plans to set up new solar cell manufacturing plants and add capacities to existing plants. Further, to meet increasing demand, almost all the players are also growing their module manufacturing capacity.
JINCHEN and SINGULUS, through their partnership, will provide a broad portfolio of solutions for TOPCon and HJT cell technologies, addressing this growing demand in India. “Both companies are working closely together through this joint venture to accelerate sales of PV cell equipment. We look forward to a prosperous industry development with cutting-edge technology and a successful ramp-up of solar cell production in India,” added Singh.
