Siemens Gamesa Secures 3rd Swedish Contract from BayWa for 62 MW Wind Farm

Spanish wind turbine manufacturer Siemens Gamesa has secured its third contract in Sweden with leading global renewable energy developer Baywa r.e. for a 62 MW wind farm.

The contract was signed during the second quarter of the fiscal year, and will see the supply of 10 Siemens Gamesa 5.X turbines, with a flexible power rating to 6.2 MW.

These turbines will be installed at the Furuby wind farm, and will have a hub height of 135 meters, with a 220-meter tip height.

Further, the wind farm is expected to be installed in 2022 and will cover a 25-year service agreement with Siemens Gamesa. This is the third project in which the company has worked with a BayWa r.e. following its first project in the country in 2012.

Meanwhile, the company has now signed more than 1.2 GW of contracts in Sweden, and over 2.6 GW globally for its 5.X turbines, which included a huge 372 MW deal in Björnberget, the largest it has signed in the country for the 5.X.
