Shakti Pumps Wins INR 12.42 Crore MEDA Contract for Solar Water Pumps in Maharashtra

Shakti Pumps (India) Ltd. has secured INR 12.42 crore contract from MEDA to install 445 Off-grid Solar Photovoltaic Water Pumping Systems across Maharashtra under PM-KUSUM Component-B. The project must be completed within 120 days.

Shakti Pumps (India) Ltd. has been awarded a Letter of Award (LoA) from the Maharashtra Energy Development Agency (MEDA) for the installation of 445 Off-grid Solar Photovoltaic Water Pumping Systems (SPWPS) across various locations in Maharashtra under Component-B of the PM-KUSUM scheme.

As per the firm's statement, the total contract value, inclusive of GST, stands at approximately INR 12.42 crore.The scope of the project includes the design, manufacturing, supply, transportation, installation, testing, and commissioning of the solar-powered water pumping systems. As per the agreement, the entire execution of the project is to be completed within 120 days from the issuance of the work order.

The contract, awarded by a domestic entity, is part of the government’s initiative to promote solar energy for irrigation and reduce dependency on conventional power sources in the agricultural sector. The company has clarified that neither its promoters nor its group companies have any interest in MEDA, and the order does not fall under related-party transactions.

This latest order highlights Shakti Pumps' growing role in India's renewable energy sector, aligning with the government's push for sustainable and decentralized solar energy solutions for farmers.
