Shakti Pumps (India) Ltd has won a substantial contract worth INR 293 crore from the Department of Agriculture of the Uttar Pradesh government. This major development underscores Shakti Pumps' pivotal role in advancing renewable energy solutions and expanding access to clean water resources.

Under the terms of the contract, Shakti Pumps will be responsible for the supply, installation, and commissioning of solar water pumping systems across Uttar Pradesh. The project, an integral part of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan (PM-KUSUM) III scheme, is expected to be completed within a rapid timeframe of just 90 days.

The Letter of Award, issued by the Uttar Pradesh government's Department of Agriculture, signifies Shakti Pumps' crucial involvement in driving forward the PM-KUSUM initiative.

Launched in 2019, PM-KUSUM aims to establish 10,000 MW of Decentralised Grid Connected Renewable Energy Power Plants on barren lands. These renewable energy-based power plants (REPP), ranging from 500 kW to 2 MW in capacity, will be set up by farmers, cooperatives, and panchayats.

Moreover, the scheme offers a unique opportunity for beneficiaries to install 17.50 Lakh stand-alone solar agriculture pumps with a capacity of up to 7.5 HP. These pumps will serve as replacements for existing diesel agriculture pumps or irrigation systems in off-grid areas where grid supply is not available, effectively reducing the carbon footprint and enhancing the sustainability of agricultural practices.
