Senvion India has crossed the 1 GW commissioned base in India, underlining its strategy to contribute significantly to the fast-growing Indian wind power market.

Coinciding with the 1 GW installed WTG milestone, Senvion India has also completed the manufacturing of 500 nacelles from the Baramati (Maharashtra) plant and 500 sets of blades from blade factories in Vadodara (Gujarat) and Tiruchirappalli (Tamil Nadu).

Senvion runs its business with Make in India as its core strategy and is committed to designing and manufacturing turbines in India for India and the world. A very high level of localisation has been achieved at sub-component levels, which has now crossed 80 percent, and we remain committed to making 100 percent in India. Senvion's growth in India has contributed to generating employment opportunities and improving local manufacturing, supporting India's ambition to be a manufacturing hub for wind turbines.

Amit Kansal, CEO & Managing Director, Senvion India, says, "It took us a while to reach the 1 GW commissioned base, and we are truly grateful to our customers for this achievement. Over 95% of 1 GW is under Senvion's comprehensive maintenance program.  While 1 GW is now connected to the grid, the next 1 GW is in various stages of commissioning, backed by firm orders to achieve it within the next 12 months. Senvion's commitment to the Indian wind power market is relentless and ambitious, and soon we will see our next generation turbine with 4.2 MW commissioned as previously announced."

With an expanding footprint in the industry, the company's expansion ambitions, emphasis on technological innovation with an R&D setup in Germany and India, and localised manufacturing capacity, the company has set its sights on 15% market share in grid-commissioned WTGs for the next financial year, further strengthening Senvion India's support for achieving the government's target of 500 GW by 2030.
