Sembcorp Utilities Pte Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Sembcorp Industries, is ready for the commercial operation of the Manah II Solar Independent Power Project in Manah, Oman.
As per the firm, the company has successfully completed the acceptance tests for the project, achieving commercial operations more than four months ahead of its scheduled date.
It may be noted that Sembcorp was awarded this first Greenfield Renewables Project in the Middle East last year in the month of March. This project is Sembcorp's largest utility-scale solar farm globally, with an installed peak capacity of 588 MW.
The project is backed by a 20-year, 500 MW power purchase agreement with Nama Power and Water Procurement Company and will support Oman’s goal to increase renewable energy's share to 30 percent by 2030.
The successful completion of the project is expected to contribute positively to Sembcorp’s earnings per share, though it will not have a significant impact on the company’s net tangible assets per share for the financial year ending December 31, 2024.
Sembcorp Industries, founded in 1998 and headquartered in Singapore, is a leading energy and urban solutions provider focused on driving energy transition.
