Secure Partners NBPDCL to Install 1 Million Smart Prepaid Meters in Bihar
This partnership aligns with the Government of India’s Digital India plan and Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) to transform the power sector by providing digital services to consumers.

Bihar is the forerunner in smart prepaid meter installation, with a monumental 29 lakh meters installed. It’s currently the only state deploying smart meters with prepayment at a rapid pace. As a part of the association, Secure has installed smart meters at a record-breaking installation speed, reaching as high as 6,000+ meters of installation per day, thus setting a new standard in the industry for installation efficiency.
The organisation has also leveraged its Liberty smart prepaid metering technology platform to accelerate the adoption of smart meters in rural areas. Secure happens to be the first in the world to use NB-IoT for smart metering at this large scale, with their data service levels at an impressive 98%.
